ABOUT THE POSH CLUB |

|
| The Posh Club is an informal literary review group that meets in Aberdeen on the last Tuesday of every calendar month, except December. It was established in June 2005 by Suzanne Law, following the discovery that the city apparently lacked a non-corporate book club. |
 |
| During June and July of 2005, the first five members of the group reviewed Port Mungo by Patrick McGrath. By August, a further four members had joined and on the 16th, a group of nine met at the Copthorne Hotel to review A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro. It was here that a name for the group was discussed and decided upon. Inspired by Victoria Beckham’s claim to an Italian magazine that she had never read a book in her life, adopting the name ’Posh Club’ seemed suitably ironic and was met with everyone’s approval.
The Posh Club comprises of members of varying nationalities which include Scottish, English, Irish, American, Australian, Canadian, Cameronnian & Dutch to name but a few! We have got to know each other well and have established an excellent reading group in the heart of Aberdeen city which everyone enjoys. |

In time-honoured tradition, each of us takes a turn to recommend the preceding book. The result is we read a variety of novels from an eclectic mix of authors. It’s a great opportunity to socialise with some old and new friends and to indulge in a little intellectual debate, both about the book reviewed and literature in general. |

As well as being a reading group, we partake in regular pub quizzes at The Old School House which usually take place after each meet as well as other Tuesdays of the month in between meets. We also partake in regular outings such as going to the theatre, cinema as well as socialising with others.
