How did you hear about The Posh Club? I came across Suzanne’s contact details after carrying out a web search for book clubs in Aberdeen. I have now been a ‘Poshie’ for three years.
What made you decide to join The Posh Club? I thought it would be a good way to meet new people and read a few books that I would not normally choose for myself. It can also be really interesting to hear what others think of books you love.
Who is your favourite author? I really don’t have a favourite author although I do go through phases of reading books by the same author or books with a similar theme I love old fashioned fairytales- they can be a bit gruesome at times so they are definitely not just for kids. I especially love the editions with illustrations and collect these where I can.
What has been your favourite read of the last twelve months? “Laclan’s War” by Michael Cannon – a story set in a small west coast town during WW2 focussing on the lives of a refugee, three land girls and local villagers. I also really enjoyed “The Book Thief” and “Suite Francaise”. I seem to have read a number of books set during WW2.
What do you feel you get out of ’The Posh Club? I look forward to meeting once a month, catching up with everyone and discussing the books we read. Discussions can sometimes go off on a tangent which always keeps things interesting.
Would you recommend The Posh Club to your friends/work colleagues? Definitely, it is a great way to meet people you would not normally come across and we are a great bunch of people.
